Micafungin is a broad-spectrum antifungal product used for fungal infections caused by various species of fungi, such as Candida and Aspergillus. Micafungin is a member of the class of echinocandin antifungal agents, which work by inhibiting the synthesis of β-1,3-glucan, a component of the fungal cell wall. This leads to weakened cell walls and ultimately results in the death of the fungal cells.
It is primarily used for helping invasive candidiasis, esophageal candidiasis, and other deep-seated fungal infections. It is also prescribed for prophylaxis of fungal infections in immunocompromised patients undergoing stem cell transplantation or other high-risk procedures.

1. Help blood mycoses: Micafungin can be used to help blood mycoses caused by invasive fungi, such as Candida, Aspergillus and Pneumocystis carinii. It exerts its antifungal effect mainly by inhibiting the synthesis of β-glucan in the fungal wall.
2. Help other fungal infections: Micafungin can also be used to help infections caused by fungi in other parts, such as superficial fungal infections and invasive pulmonary aspergillosis.
