 Astilbin is a flavanonol, a type of flavonoid. Astilbin is the (2R-trans)-isomer; neoisoastilbin is the (2S-cis)-isomer and isoastilbin is the (2R-cis)-isomer. Astilbin is extracted from the leaf of engelhardtia roxburghiana. It is a flavonoid phytochemical with antibacterial activity, which may be used to study its pharmacology and the effects of its antiproliferative activities versus a variety of cell types. It shows in vitro antibacterial activity. Astilbin suppresses collagen-induced arthritis via the dysfunction of lymphocytes. It also has strong effects on diuretic and analgesic.
