Ethambutol hydrochloride interferes with the DNA and RNA synthesis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, has a strong inhibitory effect on Mycobacterium tuberculosis during the growth and reproduction period, and has no cross-resistance with other anti-tuberculosis products. Long-term use can slowly develop resistance. Clinically used in patients with resistance to streptomycin or isoniazid. Combined with rifampicin or isoniazid, it can enhance the efficacy and delay the generation of product resistance, and use for various types of active tuberculosis.
1. Pharmacology This product is a synthetic antibacterial anti-tuberculosis product. It has strong activity against bacteria in the growth and reproduction period, and has little effect on bacteria in the stationary period. It has high antibacterial activity against various types of mycobacteria. Mycobacterium tuberculosis has no cross-resistance between this product and other products. The mechanism of action of this product has not been fully elucidated, and it may be related to inhibiting the metabolism of sensitive bacteria, inhibiting the synthesis of RNA, and interfering with the protein metabolism of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, resulting in bacterial death.
2. Toxicology This product can cause cleft palate, brain exposure and spinal deformity in mouse experiments at high doses; mild cervical spine deformities in rat experiments; cyclops, short limbs and cleft palate in rabbit experiments.
