Adenosine monophosphate (AMP), also known as Adenosine monophosphate, 5' -adenine nucleotide or Adenosine, is a nucleotide found in RNA.
It is an adenosine nucleoside, and consists of phosphate functional groups, pentose nucleosaccharides and base adenine. Adenosine monophosphate is obtained from the hydrolysis of ATP twice. One base plus one five-carbon sugar. Whether it's a deoxynucleotide or a ribonucleotide depends on whether there's oxygen on the five-carbon sugar, not the base.
