Polaprezinc is a chelate of zinc and L-carnosine, and its full name is Beta-alanyl-L-Histidinato zinc. It contains 23% zinc and 77% L-carnosine. It is an approved pharmaceutical in Japan, a gastric mucosal protective agent, and is used clinically to solve gastric ulcers. The mechanism of action of carnosine zinc is to scavenge oxygen free radicals, inhibit oxidative damage, and accelerate gastric mucosal solving.
