It has a role as a bacterial metabolite, a plant metabolite, a human metabolite, a Saccharomyces cerevisiae metabolite and a mouse metabolite. It is a 3beta-sterol, a tetracyclic triterpenoid. It derives from a hydride of a lanostane.
