5. What is Piperine? 
Piperine is an alkaloid that is the main source of black pepper spicy flavor, along with chavicine (the cis-trans isomer of piperine). It is used in some forms of traditional medicine and pesticides. The spicy taste caused by capsaicin and piperine is produced by opening the TRPV ion channel in the pain nerves-the TRPV-1 channel that senses the hot and sour taste.
