5 Aminolevulinic acid phosphate, also called 5-ALA phosphate, is phosphate form of 5-Aminolevulinic acid. 5-ALA is a naturally occurring non-protein amino acid in living organisms, and it is also the precursor of the biosynthesis of tetrapyrrole compounds, such as,  chlorophyll, heme and vitamin B12. 5-ALA plays a role as a rate-limiting agent in heme biosynthesis and it can enhance the immune response of penaeus vannamei to vibrio parahaemolyticus, upregulate immune and defense-related genes, and accerlarte aerobic energy metabolism respectively.
